Fitness club operators are demanding compensation for losses caused by restrictions on their operating activities during the Covid-19 epidemic, a Polish newspaper reported on Friday.

The daily Rzeczpospolita reported that a class action lawsuit was filed in a Warsaw district court on Thursday against the government and the minister of health seeking a court ruling on the treasury’s liability for damage caused during the Covid-19 pandemic due to restrictions on operations of gyms and fitness clubs.

More than 150 entrepreneurs who operate a total of 450 fitness clubs in Poland are involved in the lawsuit, the plaintiffs’ lawyers said.

The lawyers also claim the restrictions are illegal and have denied their clients the right to do business.
