Meals Flavours launches box-packed wellness food regimen merchandise

Food Flavors, a Kochi-based startup sponsored by a tech-turned-food-preneur with a housewife-turned-chef, has launched packaged wellness diet products. These include five varieties of ready-to-cook wholemeal chapatis with moringa leaves, ragi (finger millet), flaxseed, palak (spinach) and thena (foxtail millet).

Renjith George, managing director, Food Flavors, said the company had been trial marketing these wellness chapatis in northern Kerala for the past year and a half. “Even these least urbanized parts of Kerala have given us good reactions to these niche premium products that a few months ago prompted us to launch them in Kochi alongside our five types of wellness chapatis with various other wellness benefits. Food products are wholesome, “he said.

“The wellness diet caught up quickly, especially since Covid, but the development of new wellness products was not that easy. We accepted the challenge and after regular improvisation my co-founder Chinju Philip developed these ready-to-cook chapatis with traditionally known ingredients and scientifically proven for health and wellbeing. We also designed carton packs to package them for freshness, convenience in handling and storage, “he said.

The company’s newly opened production facility in Chowara can currently produce 15,000 to 20,000 chapatis per day for all five variants, which is soon to be increased to 50,000 pieces. The products are available in premium supermarkets, bakeries and health food stores all over Kochi, as well as in some pharmacies, which helps patients with lifestyle diseases to buy and try our products.

Chapatis cost 100 for the pack of 10 with oiled paper separating each chapati. In Kochi, the company wants to focus on direct home deliveries. Elsewhere, it appoints distributors and checks deliveries through a courier company that has promised a day delivery anywhere in the state.

With the same wellness ingredients, millet-based noodles will be ready for launch once successful trials have been completed recently, followed by tortilla wraps. The company also recently launched its e-commerce platform
