SAN ANTONIO – Local Moves is a brand new gym in San Antonio that offers a unique approach to circuit training. As you work up a sweat, you are building connections.

Owner Thomas Roe believes in supporting your physical and mental health. He uses the buddy system in his gym. He will bring you together with a different person during each lesson. That person will serve as your motivator and competitor through high-intensity interval training.

“It gives you an opportunity to support and encourage one another,” said Roe. “But it is also an opportunity to create a community.”

Roe’s inspiration behind this idea was his sister Tonya, who battled mental illness. With many people fighting behind closed doors, Roe hopes his gym is a place where they can feel valued, seen and heard from.

“When Tonya was lost, she always felt like she had no one to talk to,” said Roe. “With your buddy you help each other to overcome the tough, challenging obstacles.”

Roe hopes the connections made in his studio will turn into lasting friendships outside of his walls.

“When someone walks in, they have 19 friends in a flash,” said Roe. “It’s her tribe. That is what sets us apart – the tribe and culture of Local Moves. ”

Local Moves offers 20 different courses that consist of 45 to 50 minutes of intensive circuit training. They use everything from free weights and TRX cables to ladders and kettlebells. Roe also has the only studio in town that uses Energy Fit Skis, a two-in-one machine that simulates rowing and cross-country skiing.

Your first lesson at Local Moves is free. After that, the courses cost between US $ 18 and US $ 24, depending on the program chosen. Roe can also help you with your diet by providing you with an eating plan.

Local Moves is located at 914 East Elmira, Suite 106, San Antonio, TX 78212. To learn more about Local Moves, click here.
