Portishead made its cover of ABBA’s ‘SOS’ available to stream for charity.

After debuting their version of the track in 2016, the Bristol trip-hop group uploaded ‘SOS’ to SoundCloud to raise funds for the mental health charity Mind.

With its “fan-centered royalty” system, where Soundcloud pays based on the listening times of the fans and not “pro rata”, all listeners to the cover will be donated to Mind, with both Portishead and SoundCloud making additional donations to charity.

Below, listen to the cover originally recorded for Ben Wheatley’s 2015 film HighRise.

Earlier this week it was announced that ABBA’s 1992 “Gold” album had spent a record 1,000 weeks in the UK charts.
