Weight reduction: Lady dropped 4st by following easy eating regimen plan

Weight loss is difficult enough, but not the right kind of support can lead to failure. Retired civil servant Doris Cairns, 64, from Seghill, Northumberland, lost her husband Mick in November 2020. But she says that with the support of her local Slimming World group, losing weight kept her going and gave her the confidence she badly needed. As a result, she lost four stones.

Speaking of her weight loss journey, Doris said, “I came to Slimming World in January 2020 and weighed 14.8 pounds.

“I felt sluggish, was a size 20, had constant heartburn, and felt stale and unhealthy.

“I’ve been on the yo-yo diet all my life and it seems I’ve always tried to lose weight with no long-term success.

“I’ve tried everything, I even tried the cabbage soup diet, but they were all short solutions.

“This time around, I wanted to lose weight not just to look good, but also to improve my health,” she added.

“Losing weight during the pandemic was pretty tough, especially as I was caring for my late husband Mick, who died of terminal cancer in late November 2020.

“Mick encouraged me and was overjoyed when he saw how well I was doing.

“While everyone else was baking banana bread and putting on weight, I joined Slimming World and lost four pounds.

“When I saw Mick struggle with his illness, I realized that none of us know what our health is in store for us, but I do know that a healthy weight and a certain level of fitness will help you fight any battle that You could meet in life. “Explained Doris.

“The truth was I wanted to be a fitter, healthier person, someone who could handle any problem that was thrown at them.

“That’s exactly what happened – when Mick died in lockdown, I had to take care of everything myself and I’m so proud that I didn’t buckle under the stress and started eating comfort food.

“The membership in my Slimming World group has helped me to deal with my problems and to look positively into the future.”

Regarding the physical benefits Doris has experienced since losing weight, she reveals: “Now I’ve lost four kilos, the constant heartburn that I suffered from has completely disappeared.

“I make a lot of my meals from the fabulous world of slimming recipe books and eat a lot more fruits and vegetables and fish.

“My favorite food is Slimming World hot and spicy pan-fried salmon with cauliflower rice or chicken and leek risotto.

“I have a particular preference for red wine. When I found out how my two bottles of red wine each week were affecting my weight loss, I soon reduced myself to one glass a week.

“Joining Slimming World has shown me a new way of eating, and yet as soon as I stop and think I can do it myself, I put on weight.

“It’s the support to go to the group every week that keeps me on track.”

Regarding exercise, Doris said, “When we got an hour to exercise in March 2020, I started running an hour every day.

“Although I was out of breath at first, I now run five or six miles without feeling it.

“I think it’s amazing that I’ve lived in this village for most of my life and I can’t believe the walks that I enjoyed here that I didn’t know about.

“I’d rather walk somewhere now than take the car, and next year I am hoping to go with a friend on Hadrian’s Wall Walk for Prostate Cancer, which I would never have thought of before losing weight.”

Overall, Doris has grown from size 20 to size 12.

She said, “I’ve never really enjoyed shopping for clothes, and now I love it.

“I haven’t been able to go to the hairdresser that often in the past year so I decided not to dye my hair anymore and now I love my natural gray hair. I feel great, I have more confidence, I love being out and about and enjoying life. I feel like a different woman. ”
